Ingredients
  

  • 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 large onion thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon oil divided
  • 4 slices cheese
  • 4 burger buns
  • Desired toppings: lettuce tomato, pickles

Instructions
 

  • Prepare the Patties: Divide beef into 4 portions and gently form into patties. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Cook Onions: Heat 1/2 tablespoon oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add onions, season with salt, and sauté until caramelized.. Remove and set aside.
  • Cook the Patties: Heat the rest of the oil in the skillet until it starts to smoke. Add patties and cook for 2 minutes per side. Place cheese on top, cover, and cook until melted.
  • Toast Buns: Lightly toast the buns in the skillet. Assemble the Burgers: Spread sauce or condiment on the buns. Layer with lettuce, tomato, patty, caramelized onions, and pickles.
