Equipment

  • Large mixing bowl
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Large nonstick skillet (oven-safe preferred)
  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper or aluminum foil
  • Spatula
  • Meat Thermometer

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground turkey
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Olive oil spray for cooking
  • Whole wheat buns optional
  • Butter lettuce optional
  • Cucumber slices optional
  • Thin red onion slices optional
  • Sliced tomato optional
  • Greek yogurt optional, for a mayo alternative

Instructions

  • Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 420°F.
  • Mix Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the ground turkey, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, chopped onion, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly until well combined.
  • Form Patties: Scoop out a large fistful of the turkey mixture and roll it into a ball. Flatten the ball to form a patty about 1 ½ inches thick. Repeat with the remaining meat mixture to make 5 equal-sized patties.
  • Indent Patties: Use your thumb to create a shallow indentation in the center of each patty. This helps prevent the patties from bulging in the center as they cook.
  • Cook on the Stovetop: Set a large, oven-safe nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Lightly spray with olive oil. When the skillet is hot, you can add the patties. Cook on one side for 3 to 4 minutes until the edges are browned and seared, then flip the patties over.
  • Bake in the Oven: After flipping the patties, cook for an additional minute on the stovetop. Then, place the entire skillet in the preheated oven. Bake for 9 to 11 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F.
  • Alternatively, you can place the patties on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or aluminum foil and bake them for 8 to 10 minutes.
  • Serve: Once cooked, remove the patties from the oven. Serve them on toasted whole wheat buns with butter lettuce, cucumber slices, red onion slices (optional), tomato, and a dollop of Greek yogurt instead of mayo. You can also enjoy the patties paired with salad, rice, quinoa, or roasted vegetables.
  • Enjoy your healthy and delicious turkey burgers! 🍔
