Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Presentation rings (optional)
  • Griddle pan or outdoor grill
  • Metal spatula
  • Cutting board
  • Knife

Ingredients

Patties:

  • 500 g ground beef
  • 1 teaspoon mild chili powder
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

Toppings:

  • 4 slices cheese optional, for cheeseburgers
  • Lettuce leaves
  • 1 large tomato thinly sliced
  • 1 small cucumber thinly sliced
  • 1 gherkin thinly sliced
  • 1 small red onion finely chopped

Assembly:

  • 4 burger buns
  • Mayonnaise or ketchup or both

Instructions

  • Prepare the Steak: Flavor the Meat: Place the ground beef in a mixing bowl. Sprinkle with chili powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well using your hands or a fork to evenly distribute the seasoning.
  • Shape the Patties: Divide the meat mixture into 4 equal portions. Shape each portion into a round patty about the size of your buns. For a neater shape, press the mixture into large presentation rings, compacting the meat before lifting the rings off.
  • Cook the Burgers: Heat a griddle pan or outdoor grill over high heat. Cook the burgers for about 5 minutes on each side, flipping carefully with a metal spatula. Take caution as the fat may splatter.
  • Add Cheese and Toast Buns: For cheeseburgers, place a slice of cheese on top of each patty after flipping and allow it to melt while the second side cooks. Split the burger buns in half and lightly toast them on the grill or in a toaster until golden.
  • Prepare the Toppings: Separate lettuce leaves and rinse them. Thinly slice the tomato, cucumber, and gherkin on a clean cutting board. Finely chop the red onion.
  • Assemble the Burgers: Spread mayonnaise, ketchup, or both onto the bottom halves of the toasted buns. Place the cooked patties on top. Add your desired toppings, including lettuce, tomato, cucumber, gherkin, and red onion. Top it off by adding the upper halves of the buns.
  • Serve and Enjoy: Serve immediately with fries or your favorite sides.
  • This recipe delivers perfectly seasoned Hamburgers with a balance of spice and flavor—ideal for any burger lover!

Notes

  • Make-Ahead Tip: Shape patties a day in advance and refrigerate, covered, until ready to cook.
  • Cheeseburger Variation: Add cheese slices to the patties after flipping, allowing them to melt before assembling.
  • Spicier Option: Increase the chili powder or add a pinch of cayenne for extra heat.
