Equipment

  • Grater
  • Large mixing bowl
  • Paper towels or clean kitchen towel
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Nonstick skillet, grill, or air fryer
  • Spatula
  • Meat Thermometer

Ingredients

  • 1 medium zucchini
  • 1 lb ground turkey
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • 1/4 cup onion finely chopped
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • Cooking spray or oil for frying or grilling

Instructions

  • Prepare Zucchini: Grate the zucchini and then squeeze out all the moisture using paper towels to prevent soggy burgers.
  • Mix Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the ground turkey, squeezed zucchini, breadcrumbs, minced garlic, chopped onion, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  • Form Patties: Divide the mixture into 5 equal portions (about 4 ounces each). Shape each portion into a patty, making them about 1/2 inch thick so they cook evenly in the center.

Cooking Instructions:

  • Stovetop: Heat a large nonstick skillet over high heat. Once hot, lightly spray with cooking oil. Add the patties and reduce the heat to low. Cook for 4-5 minutes on each side, flipping occasionally to prevent burning. Ensure the burgers are fully cooked and browned on both sides.
  • Grilling: Preheat the grill and clean it well. Spray with oil to prevent sticking. Grill the patties on medium heat for about 5 minutes per side, or until the burgers are no longer pink in the center and reach an internal temperature of 165°F.
  • Air Fryer: Preheat the air fryer to 370°F. Arrange the patties in a single layer, cooking in batches if needed. Air fry for 10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and fully cooked.
  • Serving: Once the burgers are cooked, serve them on buns with your favorite toppings.
  • Enjoy your delicious turkey zucchini burgers! 🍔

Notes

  • Make sure to drain the zucchini well to remove extra moisture.
  • If the mixture is too wet, add a tablespoon of breadcrumbs at a time until it thickens.
  • Store leftover patties in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days, or freeze for up to 3 months.
