Grater
Large mixing bowl
Paper towels or clean kitchen towel
Measuring cups and spoons
Nonstick skillet, grill, or air fryer
Spatula
Meat Thermometer
- 1 medium zucchini
- 1 lb ground turkey
- 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 clove garlic minced
- 1/4 cup onion finely chopped
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- Cooking spray or oil for frying or grilling
Prepare Zucchini: Grate the zucchini and then squeeze out all the moisture using paper towels to prevent soggy burgers.
Mix Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the ground turkey, squeezed zucchini, breadcrumbs, minced garlic, chopped onion, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined. Be careful not to overmix.
Form Patties: Divide the mixture into 5 equal portions (about 4 ounces each). Shape each portion into a patty, making them about 1/2 inch thick so they cook evenly in the center.
Cooking Instructions:
Stovetop: Heat a large nonstick skillet over high heat. Once hot, lightly spray with cooking oil. Add the patties and reduce the heat to low. Cook for 4-5 minutes on each side, flipping occasionally to prevent burning. Ensure the burgers are fully cooked and browned on both sides.
Grilling: Preheat the grill and clean it well. Spray with oil to prevent sticking. Grill the patties on medium heat for about 5 minutes per side, or until the burgers are no longer pink in the center and reach an internal temperature of 165°F.
Air Fryer: Preheat the air fryer to 370°F. Arrange the patties in a single layer, cooking in batches if needed. Air fry for 10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and fully cooked.
Serving: Once the burgers are cooked, serve them on buns with your favorite toppings.
